Clear the Room: Make Space for Purpose - Day One
Day 1: Identify the Noise
Scripture: Mark 5:40 (NIV) — "But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him and went in where the child was."
Devotional:
When Jesus arrived to heal Jairus' daughter, He stepped into a room filled with people who laughed at Him. They didn’t just doubt His power—they mocked it. But Jesus didn’t waste His breath trying to explain Himself. He didn’t stop to convince them why their laughter was misplaced. Instead, He cleared the room. Because Jesus knew one thing for certain: the miracle couldn’t happen in that kind of atmosphere.
Every year, I take a moment to clear my own space. It’s not a New Year’s resolution or a trendy detox—it’s a spiritual reset. I log off social media, stop scrolling, and start searching for God. I ask myself, “What am I holding onto that’s holding me back? What’s distracting me from the plan God has for me?” And then I start letting go.
This isn’t just about what’s around you; it’s about what’s inside you. Take a moment to think about your "room"—your heart, your mind, your spirit. What’s cluttering it? Maybe it’s the voice of your own insecurities telling you you’re not good enough. Maybe it’s the people who smile to your face but don’t believe in your dreams. Whatever it is, you’ve got to get bold enough to clear it out.
Clearing the room doesn’t mean you’re cutting people off left and right. It’s not about being mean or dramatic. It’s about protecting the space where your faith grows. Sometimes that means limiting access, setting boundaries, and saying no to the things that don’t align with God’s purpose for your life. And listen—God is ready to do something incredible in you, but you’ve got to make the space.
So, let me ask you: Who or what do you need to let go of to make room for what God is about to do? The miracle is waiting—but the space has to be ready.
