The Other Side of Greater - Day Four

Day 4: Destroying What Chases You

Scripture: Exodus 14:28 (NIV) - “The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived.”

Devotional:

Some things can’t go with you into your next season. What’s been chasing you—fear, insecurity, shame, that toxic cycle, that doubt—was never meant to cross over into your greater. But the enemy is bold. He will chase after what God has already called free, hoping you’ll turn around and surrender to what God already delivered you from.

Pharaoh’s army thought they still had a claim on God’s people. But God had other plans. When the Israelites stepped onto dry ground, God let the sea do what only He could—He wiped out the threat completely. The very thing that had tormented them for generations was swallowed up, never to rise again.

This is your confirmation: What used to haunt you has no power anymore. That pain, that rejection, that failure—it’s drowning under the weight of God’s grace. It may have chased you, but it will not overtake you. God didn’t just bring you out; He made sure what tried to destroy you was buried behind you.

It’s time to stop looking over your shoulder. Stop expecting the past to catch up with you. Stand firm in your freedom and walk boldly into the next chapter of your life. The battle is over. The enemy has been defeated. The sea has closed, and you are free.

Declaration:

I am free. What once had a hold on me has been destroyed. I walk boldly into my next season.

Prayer:

God, thank You for destroying what tried to destroy me. Help me to stop looking back and trust that I am truly free. I declare that my past has no power over my future. Amen.

Thought Questions:

  • What has God freed you from that you need to stop looking back at?
  • Do you trust that your past has no power over your future?
  • How can you walk in the freedom God has given you?
