The Blessing in the Wait Devotional - Day Three

 Day 3: Strength in Stillness

Scripture: Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)
"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

Devotional:
As a kid, I struggled with being still. I remember my mom telling me, "Sit down somewhere and be still!" It felt like the hardest thing in the world because, as a child, stillness seemed like the opposite of what life was supposed to be. Life was about movement, doing, running, jumping—not sitting still.

Funny how that same tension follows us into adulthood. Waiting on God often feels like that impossible stillness we resisted as kids. We think waiting means we’re stuck or losing time, but in God’s kingdom, waiting is where strength is born.

Think about the Israelites at the Red Sea. Pharaoh’s army was behind them, the water stretched endlessly in front of them, and there was nowhere to go. In the face of panic, Moses told them, "Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord" (Exodus 14:13). Stand still? With enemies charging at them and no way forward? It sounded ridiculous—but it was exactly what they needed. God parted the sea not while they were running, but while they were standing still, trusting Him to make a way.

That’s what waiting does. It’s the moment when we stop striving and start trusting. It’s where we learn that strength isn’t in our doing but in His renewing. Friend, you might feel like standing still is the last thing you want to do, especially when the pressures of life are closing in. But God is saying, "Be still, and watch what I’m about to do."

Waiting is where God refuels us for the journey ahead. It’s where He renews the strength we’ll need to walk through what’s next. You might feel weak right now, but let me tell you: the stillness isn’t the end—it’s preparation. Trust Him in the waiting, because when it’s time to move, you’ll soar.

Declaration:
I declare that my strength is being renewed as I wait on the Lord. He is preparing me to soar above my circumstances.

Thought Question:
How can you lean into God’s renewal in your waiting season? What would it look like to stop striving and start trusting?

Prayer:
Father, thank You for reminding me that stillness is not weakness. Teach me to embrace the moments when You call me to stop striving and simply trust. Renew my strength in the waiting, and prepare me for what’s next. When I feel weak, remind me that You are my source of strength. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Clear the Room: Make Space for Purpose - Day Two

Day 2: Surrender the Weight Scripture : Hebrews 12:1 (NIV) — "Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." Devotional : I once heard someone describe life as running a race with bags strapped to your back. Each bag represented something different—fear, shame, insecurity, and bitterness. Some were small and easy to carry, but others felt like stones. That image stuck with me because I know what it’s like to feel weighed down. If I’m honest, there have been seasons when I held onto things I knew God was asking me to release. A grudge I couldn’t let go of. The pressure to meet everyone’s expectations. The guilt of mistakes I couldn’t forgive myself for. I told myself I needed to carry these things, but deep down, I knew they were slowing me down. God doesn’t call us to run weighed down. He calls us to run free. The moment I decided to surrender those weights to Him, something shifted....

Prioritizing His Presence Devotion - Day 2: Choosing What Matters

Scripture: "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." — Matthew 6:33 Devotional: Have you ever had one of those days where you’re running on fumes? The kind where you’ve said “yes” to everything and everyone, leaving nothing left for yourself? I’ve been there more times than I’d like to admit—serving, working, striving—thinking that if I just do enough, I’ll feel fulfilled. But let me tell you something I’ve learned: Fulfillment doesn’t come from doing. It comes from being. When I think about Matthew 6:33, I’m reminded of the simplicity of Jesus’ words: Seek first the kingdom of God. That’s it. He didn’t say, “Seek success first” or “Seek approval first.” He didn’t even say, “Seek doing more first.” Just, “Seek first the kingdom.” Mary understood this. While Martha was busy doing good things—things that seemed important—Mary chose the better thing. She chose to sit with Jesus, prioritize Him, and trust that everyt...

The Blessing in the Wait Devotional - Day One

Day 1: Waiting with Purpose Scripture: Genesis 1:1-3 (NIV) "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light." Devotional: There’s something profound about those opening words of the Bible. Before anything existed—before the beauty, the life, the purpose—there was a waiting. God’s Spirit hovered over the waters, moving but not rushing. He wasn’t in a hurry to create. Instead, He prepared. He shaped the chaos into order, brought light into darkness, and set the stage for His masterpiece. Friend, if creation itself began with a pause, why do we resist the pauses in our lives? Waiting feels like nothingness, doesn’t it? Like the formless void of Genesis. But just like in the beginning, God is hovering over your life. He’s moving in the unseen, preparing spaces, aligning opportunities...
