It's All Good (Blog Post)
This week felt heavy, didn’t it? Between transitions in our personal lives and the never-ending cycle of global news, it’s easy to feel like we’re drowning in uncertainty. We see headlines that shake us, decisions that divide us, and moments that leave us questioning where God is in all of this.
There were moments this week when I felt overwhelmed. Trying to balance everything while still holding space for joy, peace, and purpose can feel like a losing battle. There were mornings when I woke up with hope, but by midday, I was fighting discouragement because of something I saw on the news or something happening in my own life. Maybe you’ve felt that too—the weight of it all threatening to steal your peace.
But as I sat with all of this, one truth kept coming back to me: God is still God. It was a simple yet powerful reminder. It didn’t change the news I heard or the challenges I faced, but it shifted my perspective. The same God who spoke light into darkness, parted seas, and brought dead things back to life hasn’t changed. And if He hasn’t changed, then neither has His promise.
I’ve been reflecting on Joseph again this week, and whew, what a story. Can you imagine being betrayed by your own blood? Tossed into a pit like you didn’t matter, sold into slavery as if you were nothing, and then falsely accused and thrown into prison on top of it all? If anybody had the right to throw up their hands and say, “God, what is this?” it was Joseph.
But here’s what gets me every time: even in the messiest, most unjust parts of his story, God was still moving. He was in the details, working behind the scenes in ways Joseph couldn’t even see yet. What felt like the end was just a chapter. What looked like defeat was actually divine strategy.
Genesis 50:20 says it so perfectly: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Can we sit with that for a moment? The very thing that was designed to take Joseph out became the setup for his greatest breakthrough. That’s the kind of God we serve. He doesn’t just work around the pain; He works through it. He doesn’t just mend the broken pieces; He turns them into something beautiful.
I know it’s not always easy to see it in the moment. When you’re in the middle of the storm, it’s hard to believe the sun will ever shine again. But that’s what faith is: holding on to the promise even when you can’t see the proof. And if you need a little reminder this week, let me offer you this: God is still God. He’s still good. And His plans for you are still intact.
Tomorrow, we’ll dive into a new devotional together called The Good in the Hard. For three days, we’ll explore what it means to trust God’s plan even when life feels broken. We’ll walk through more of Joseph's story and unpack the beauty of God’s ability to turn what was meant for harm into something life-giving. I hope you’ll join me on this journey. Let’s make room for hope, trust, and peace, and allow God to remind us that His goodness is bigger than anything we’re facing.
Because it’s not just good—it’s all good. See you tomorrow!
